Nancy Dorrier has been writing for more than 30 years and uses writing to get to the other side of things, to work things out in her mind, and to get her thoughts and feelings down on paper. Writing is a process, a practice in which no one is interrupting and taking the conversation to “my grandmother wore blue.”

Nancy’s first published book is Stan Went Fishing, Stories and Images of Waking Up, a book about moving from darkness to light that features Nancy’s writing and black and white photography from Paul Fetters.

Her grandchildren inspired her to write her second book, Manners and Me: An Easy-Peasy Guide for Kids and the Grown Ups Who Love Them as she watched them grow up and learn to be in the world. For years, she has hosted “Camp Nana” for them which includes adventures as well as daily meditation, creative writing, telling and listening to each other’s stories without interrupting and of course, the good manners of daily chores.

Nancy also leads a creative writing practice on Zoom every 6 weeks called Write to Be Fully Alive. There is no fee for this 90 minutes class. She and her team use this writing approach with executive teams. For more information about the class or consulting, please send an email to vbrien@dorrierunderwood.com.

She lives in Charlotte, North Carolina.
